Member Hours

Requirements for members and candidates per semester are:

Minimum of 4 Professional Hours
Minimum of 4 Service Hours
Total of the two must be at least 10 as well (i.e. 6 professional and 4 service)

What are Professional and Service Hours?

Professional hours are achieved primarily through official chapter meetings (6-7 pm every Thursday).

Members and candidates may earn hours through other professional learning activities. These activities must build skills such as:

  • Business Writing Skills
  • Ethical Decision Making Skills
  • Change Management
  • Diversity and Inclusion
  • Facilitation Skills
  • Negotiation Skills
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Accepting Feedback
  • Managing Distractions
  • Conflict Management
  • Interpersonal Skills at the Workplace

Service hours include tutoring other students in accounting, finance, or information services. One excellent opportunity is through tutoring in the Accounting Lab located in the basement of the Albertson’s Building!

Members and candidates may earn hours more traditionally, too, like volunteering at a local food bank, animal shelter, nursing home, or community center.

Students may report a maximum of 5 hours per semester of professional hours and 5 hours per semester of service hours that are not sponsored by Beta Alpha Psi.
